Criminal defense across the heart of Wyoming
Central Wyoming covers a lot of ground — geographically and legally. Casper is Wyoming’s second-largest city and has one of the state’s most active prosecution offices. Cheyenne is the capital and has the highest case volume in the state. Between them sit Douglas, Rawlins, Powell, Thermopolis, and Basin — each with its own court culture, its own judges, and its own way of handling criminal matters. Knowing those differences, and using them, is part of what we do.
I-25 runs through the center of this region from Cheyenne north to Casper, and it generates a consistent stream of traffic enforcement cases — DUI stops, drug seizures, and weapons discoveries that can result in felony charges in a matter of minutes. We’ve defended many of those cases. We know how these stops are conducted, what the officers are looking for, and how to challenge the evidence when the stop or search wasn’t done right.
The smaller counties in this region — Hot Springs, Big Horn, Park — move at a different pace than Casper or Cheyenne. Scheduling is less frequent, the legal community is smaller, and the relationships between judges, prosecutors, and defense attorneys are more personal. That cuts both ways, and an attorney who knows those dynamics has real advantages over one who doesn’t. We practice across all of these courts because our clients need us there.
